LGBT Employees and Partner Benefits

One of the biggest areas of concern for LGBT employees in Asia is that because same-sex marriages or partnerships are not legally recognised, most companies do not offer same-sex partners the same benefits as opposite sex partner in a recognised marriage. In fact, Community Business research in Hong Kong has shown that nearly two out of three LGBT employees believe that same-sex partner benefits is the number one thing that would make their workplace feel more inclusive. Employers that wish to be an employer of choice and fair employers are encouraged to go beyond the law and ensure they offer equal benefits to partners, including same-sex partners.
